PROPERTY & EVIDENCE UNIT

The Property & Evidence unit is responsible for receiving, logging, storing, preserving, and maintaining the chain of custody for all types of property and evidence that police personnel collect in the field and at crime scenes.  Property & Evidence Specialists also assist Investigations Division and Patrol in collecting and preserving evidence at high profile crime scenes as well as Search Warrants.  They are also responsible for processing evidence for fingerprints, DNA, Trace Evidence, etc. and the disposal of evidence.   One of the primary functions is to release property back to owners once it is cleared for release or disposal.
