When someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest, every second matters.  The National City Fire Department encourages CPR-trained residents to download the free PulsePoint Respond app and become part of a growing network of citizen responders who may be able to provide lifesaving assistance before emergency crews arrive.

Immediate CPR can significantly improve a person's chance of survival, and PulsePoint helps connect trained bystanders with nearby emergencies when every second counts.

How PulsePoint Works

PulsePoint is a free mobile application that works in partnership with local emergency dispatch centers.

When a suspected sudden cardiac arrest occurs in a public location, PulsePoint may:

• Alert nearby CPR-trained users at the same time firefighters and paramedics are dispatched.
• Provide the location of the emergency.
• Help users locate nearby Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), where available.

Getting Started

It's easy to join:

1. Download the free PulsePoint Respond app.
2. Search for and follow the National City Fire Department.
3. Open the app settings and enable CPR notifications.
4. Be ready to help when a nearby emergency occurs.

The National City Fire Department offers CPR/AED & First Aid Classes that teach participants how to recognize cardiac emergencies, perform high-quality CPR, and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
