Need a copy of a fire incident report?

The National City Fire Department processes all fire report requests through the City's secure NextRequest Public Records Portal.  The portal allows you to submit your request online, communicate directly with City staff, and track the status of your request from start to finish.

To help us locate your report, please include as much information as possible, such as:

  • Incident date
  • Approximate incident time (if known)
  • Incident address or location
  • Your name
  • Your contact information
  • Any additional information that may assist in locating the report

Providing complete and accurate information will help expedite the processing of your request.

Copy Fees

Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, the fees for copies of fire reports are:

  • $1.00 for the first page
  • $0.15 for each additional page

Applicable fees will be communicated during the request process.

After You Submit Your Request

Once your request has been submitted through NextRequest, you will be able to:

  • Receive confirmation that your request has been received.
  • Track the status of your request online.
  • Communicate with City staff if additional information is needed.
  • Receive notification when your request has been completed or if additional review is required.

Waiting on a Fire Report?

If your incident is currently under investigation, the final fire report may not be available until the investigation has been completed. Learn more about the Fire Investigation Process.
