Disasters can happen with little warning.  Whether it's an earthquake, flood, wildfire, severe storm, hazardous materials incident, or other emergency, being prepared can make all the difference.

The National City Fire Department's Emergency Management Program works year-round to help protect our community by planning for emergencies, coordinating disaster response, supporting recovery efforts, and promoting community preparedness.  Through partnerships with local, regional, state, and federal agencies, we help ensure that National City is ready to respond when emergencies occur and recover as quickly as possible afterward.

What We Do

The Emergency Management Program coordinates the City's comprehensive emergency management efforts before, during, and after disasters by:

• Developing and maintaining emergency plans.
• Coordinating the City's Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
• Conducting emergency training and exercises.
• Supporting emergency response and recovery operations.
• Coordinating with local, regional, state, and federal partners.
• Promoting community preparedness through education and outreach.
• Identifying opportunities to reduce disaster risk through mitigation planning.

Before a Disaster
