Fire Prevention Week

Our Annual Open House is typically held during Fire Prevention Week, each year to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, one of the deadliest fires in American history. The observance was established to educate communities about fire prevention and encourage families to reduce fire risks in their homes. Today, Fire Prevention Week remains the nation's longest-running public health observance and continues to promote fire safety through education, community events, and hands-on activities.

Each year, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) selects a national theme to highlight an important fire safety topic. This year's theme is "Charge Into Fire Safety. Safe Charging Is a Superpower."
