Due to the State and County directives the Youth Center will be closed effective, Friday, March 13, 2020 until further notice. Emergency lunches will be distributed for youth 18 & younger Monday through Friday starting Monday, March 23, 2020 from 1:00pm-2:30pm with no set end date.

Manuel Portillo was honored by the City of National City in 2005. The city renamed the youth center as the Manuel Portillo Casa de Salud Youth Center in honor of his long time dedication to the youth of the community.

Who can join the youth center? Children ages 8-17 with completed membership packets.
How can I sign my child up? Visit the youth center at 1408 Harding Ave. National City, CA 91950. Pick up a membership packet and submit it to staff on site.
Are adults allowed to come into the youth center? The only adults allowed to be in the youth center are scheduled staff and scheduled registered volunteers.
Can the youth come and go as they please? No, one of the rules of the youth center is that once the youth sign out they are done for the day. In addition the membership packet includes a form for parents/guardians to indicate whether the youth is allowed to sign themselves out or not.
