Welcome to Neighborhood Services
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, effective March 18, 2020 City Hall is closed for public walk-in access until further notice.
The City’s Neighborhood Services Division continues to offer services during the global pandemic. The graffiti technicians remain active in the community and are operating as normal.
During this crisis, the Code Enforcement operation has shifted much of its focus to ensuring non-essential businesses are remaining closed to the public, while also providing Social Distancing and Sanitation protocols to those businesses that remain open to the public for essential services.
The community has also noticed that the City’s Parking operations have been modified due to the pandemic. Because many of our residents are abiding the County’s shelter-in-place order, we have not been citing residents for extended street parking.
The City of National City remains committed to providing shelter for our homeless population. In conjunction with the Alpha Project and the City’s Police Homeless Outreach Team, many of our unsheltered population can now be moved out of the elements and into local hotels.
The State of California has provided over $150 Million in funding for shelters, travel trailers and the lease of hotel rooms to address this very difficult challenge. This agenda, called Project Roomkey, has already provided approximately 9,000 hotel rooms statewide and is targeting an additional 6,000 rooms. This operation will target those who have tested positive, have been exposed, or those who are considered high-risk.
