Welcome to the Home Page of the City Clerk/Records Department.  Our office is located in City Hall at 1243 National City Boulevard.  

Department Overview 
The City Clerk of the City of National City is an Elected Official who is responsible for carrying out the statutory duties prescribed by the California Government Code and serves as a liaison between the public and the City Council.  In addition, the City Clerk also serves as the City’s Records Manager. 

The City Clerk/Records Manager is Custodian of vital City records, which involves the maintenance, management, and storage/filing of records to include, but are not limited to, Ordinances, Resolutions, Contracts, Deeds and Bonds; attends and acts as key staff for City Council meetings; maintains and produces City Council Meeting Minutes; oversees Records Retention and Document Imaging Programs; responds to information and Public Records Act (PRA) requests; conducts stand-alone or consolidated City Elections; is the Filing Officer for Campaign Disclosure and Economic Interest Statements; prepares, publishes, posts and mails legal notices; Custodian of the City Seal; accepts Claims/Subpoenas/Lawsuits; certifies and/or attests to various City documents; assists in reviewing City Council agendas; administers Affirmations/Oaths of Office; maintains the Municipal Code; receives and opens project bids; processes and distributes all incoming mail; administers interpretation/translation services; and leads the Boards & Commissions application and appointment process.
