In honor of Black History Month, the City of National City proudly recognizes Donnie J. Taylor, Destiny Taylor, and Deja Taylor for their outstanding service, leadership, and lasting impact on our community.
As a lifelong National City native, Donnie has built a powerful legacy rooted in unity, cultural pride, and service — from uplifting the lowrider community to leading youth mentorship efforts, community events, and charitable initiatives that bring people together across generations. Following in his footsteps, his daughters Destiny and Deja represent the promise and strength of the next generation, actively serving, mentoring, and inspiring others through volunteerism and civic engagement.
“Black History Month is a time to honor the legacy of leaders who paved the way and to celebrate those who continue that work today,” said Mayor Ron Morrison. “Donnie J. Taylor, Destiny Taylor, and Deja Taylor exemplify the spirit of service, unity, and community pride that strengthens National City. Their dedication reminds us that leadership is rooted in love, action, and a commitment to lifting others up.”
