Personal Archiving Clinic
Location: The Local History Room, National City Public Library
Purpose
This clinic is designed to show patrons how to digitally preserve important personal objects such as photos, personal documents, and digital photos from permanent loss. You will learn about the proper equipment, format and filing system you might use in order to organize your documents and we will discuss how to prioritize collections you wish to preserve. The clinic is designed to assist in getting a project started. Patrons might wish to also arrange for future appointments to access our archival scanner to continue digitally preserving their collection.
With the ever-mounting threats of fire and flood from our rapidly warming climate, the loss of personal possessions is a looming threat. It is important these days to have a plan and strategy to keep our most important personal memories and important documents safe and retrievable again in the future.
