The Street Maintenance Division is responsible for repairs and on going maintenance to all National City owned streets, right-of-ways and alleys. This includes street paving and patching, stripping of streets, painting of curbs, traffic and information signs, street sweeping, alley maintenance and litter removal and weed abatement from city owned properties. These services are provided to the public so they can have safe, clean, and functional right-of-ways.

You can report potholes, damaged traffic signs or any other Street-Related Problems to Public Works at (619) 336-4580 or e-mail us at publicworks@nationalcityca.gov. You can also fax your request to (619) 336-4594. For after hour emergencies, please call National City Police Dispatch at (619) 336-4411.

If you are planning to do any digging in the street, public right-a-ways or even in your own back yard and you must first call Dig Alert at 1-800-227-2600 for utility mark-outs. For more information on Dig Alert’s “One Call Service” check their web site at www.DigAlert.org.
